Recent extreme weather events -- such as floods, heat waves, and droughts -- present a vivid image of the direction the world is heading. Such events, combined with longer-term environmental changes -- like rising seas, melting glaciers, and shifting precipitation patterns -- will have profound impacts on people, businesses, ecosystems, and our environment. Together, these changes call for different approaches to national-level planning and policymaking to address climate change.

The recently released World Resources 2010-2011: Decision Making in a Changing Climate, a joint venture between United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Bank, and WRI, seeks to help governments focus on how such complex public policy decisions should be made.

Join us at the offices of the World Resources Institute on November 9 as we launch this timely report. The event will feature a presentation on the report’s findings from Manish Bapna, interim president of WRI, and Kelly Levin, World Resources Report Research Director, followed by a Q&A period and a risk-based game from Pablo Suarez, Associate Director of Programs at the Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre.
